You have certainly thought about how it is possible for 10 magazines with approx. 700 pages to appear within one month.

We receive more and more advertisements not as repro films, but in digitalised form. This always turns out to be a little adventure, since a lot of the data is still not prepared the way it should be, and since it comes from all over the world we receive it in a variety of formats.
In order to make transferring data with the GIT publishing house easier for you, in the following we will explain some basic processes of how we deal with data.

Advertisement formats:

Here you can see the graphic depiction of advertisement formats for publications in A4, newspaper formats and special formats (238 x 330 mm).

DATA FORMATS:

We accept the following data formats: PDF, EPS, TIFF, JPG. Please keep the following points in mind:

  1. Please embed all used fonts or convert them into paths.
  2. Please use CMYK-colours only.
  3. With pixel orientated data formats (colour / grey scale values) we need these in a resolution of 250 dpi minimum. Bitmap files (line) should have a resolution of at least 1200 dpi.
  4. For creating PDF-files using Acrobat Distiller we provide a job options-file for download.
  5. Do not compress JPG-files too much, otherwise visible losses in quality will occur. Use the compressing levels “Maximum” or “High”.
  6. Do not send any pre-separated DCS-files.

USING "OPEN FILES":

If you wish to send us application specific file formats, e.g. QuarkXpress, CorelDraw, we cannot guarantee a 100% 1:1 reproduction during print (fonts, separations, line thickness etc.). Thus, we do not accept any responsibility in these cases. To avoid any errors, please stick to the following:

  1. Send us all used fonts and linked files
  2. Attach a hardcopy / printout for controlling layout
  3. Please do not use any RBG colours, not even with linked files
  4. With data from applications which are not to be used for creating master copies (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), converting the files is always required. This inevitably means an alteration of the files and significantly more work which we have to charge. In some cases a conversion is not possible.
  5. All required work necessary to get “printable” files will be according to the time and effort required.

We work with the following applications: QuarkXPress up to V. 6.0, Macromedia FreeHand MX (please save as EPS-files), Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe PhotoShop CS, Adobe InDesign CS. Using data generated by other applications or later versions is not possible.

The easiest way for us to find your data is when you transfer it within a folder. As a folder name please use the publication and the edition, along with the order number, if available. When transferring data by e-mail or FTP, please pack this data as zip, rar, sit or sea-files (no exe-files).

In order to transfer data using FTP, you need an FTP application. At www.filezilla.de you can download a free FTP tool (GPL license).
